‘Prema Taru’ Plantation Drive by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation Inspires Green Future in Kolagarh

Dehradun: Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Uttarakhand, organised a large-scale “Prema Taru” Tree Plantation Drive at Ganga Vihar Colony, Kolagarh, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and a greener future. The programme commenced with devotional bhajans dedicated to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and prayers. Thereafter, office bearers, volunteers, and local residents collectively planted more than 40 fruit-bearing and shade-giving saplings.
The programme was graced by the State President of the Organisation, Colonel Yogendra Singh, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he said that environmental conservation is no longer just a social responsibility but an essential requirement for the survival of humanity. Referring to climate change, rising pollution, and the rapid decline in forest cover, he urged every individual to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care and protection.
As part of the plantation drive, over 40 saplings were planted, including 10 mango, 10 litchi, 10 pomegranate, 5 jackfruit, 5 lemon, and neem saplings. All participants also pledged to nurture and protect the planted trees.
Deepak Nautiyal, Trustee of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Uttarakhand, said that while humanity continues to benefit from nature’s resources, adequate efforts are not being made to conserve them. He warned that unless society fulfils its responsibility towards nature today, future generations may not inherit a clean and healthy environment. He appealed to people to make tree plantation a mass movement, highlighting that trees not only provide oxygen but also play a vital role in water conservation, biodiversity, and maintaining ecological balance.
The programme concluded with the Aarti of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, followed by the distribution of Prasadam among devotees and participants.
