Dehradun, : To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas, veterans of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force marched from Mahendra Ground to Shaurya Sthal, Cheer Bag, to pay heartfelt floral tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War in defence of the nation’s honour and sovereignty.

The solemn ceremony was attended by the Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, who was the Chief Guest. He laid a wreath in memory of the gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland and praised their unparalleled courage, patriotism, and dedication to the nation.

Senior veterans Lt Gen G.S. Negi, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Lt Gen A.K. Singh, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, SM, VSM, Col U.S. Thakur, President of the Dehradun Ex-Servicemen League (DESL), Col B.M. Thapa, and several other veterans also laid wreaths and paid their respects to the martyrs.

The ceremony was marked by deep patriotism and reverence, with veterans recalling the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of the Kargil heroes. The gathering reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the ideals for which the brave soldiers fought and sacrificed their lives.
The event concluded with the resounding slogans of “Jai Hind” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” echoing the nation’s enduring gratitude towards its fallen heroes.
